Silvertree Shawl
This leafy triangular shawl is loosely inspired by the final volume of Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising sequence, Silver on the Tree, and by sparkly green yarn.
The pattern is currently charted only; written instructions will be added at a later date. Although nearly all of the lace patterning is worked on the right side of the fabric, each chart contains one WS row that includes decreases.
Note: During test-knitting, the entire skein (437yds) of Cascade Heritage Silk was required to finish the shawl. Be sure to check your gauge carefully. If you’re concerned about running out of yarn, you may wish to either use a slightly smaller needle or purchase extra yarn.
Silvertree Shawl -- a smaller fingering-weight sibling to my Party Tree Shawl -- features lace patterning worked on both sides of the fabric, four rows of leaves separated by diamond-shaped stockinette sections, and a simple leaf-and-chevron edging.
(Many thanks to Kerry for test-knitting, Daniel for proofreading, and Sarah for modeling!)
