Simple Cable Messy Bun Hat
The Simple Cable Messy Bun Hat combines elements of two of my previous patterns (the Simple Cable Beanie & the Aran Messy Bun Hat) - hopefully to good effect!
This Simple Cable Messy Bun Hat is knit in the round, on one size of needles. It would be suitable as a first cable project, given that the cabling pattern is not overly complicated.
The hat is sized for an adult, with 3 sizes given, but instructions are given on adjusting the stitch count to create a smaller or larger hat. Gauge is not hugely important for this beanie; the ribbing creates a comfortable fit. I would suggest being guided by the needle size suggested on your Aran wool.
The hats pictured were all knit from one skein of yarn, but the yardage varied a little between the skeins (one hat was comfortable knit from one skein, but I got worried I would run out of yarn with one of the other hats!)
All hats pictured measure 8 inches/20.5 cm from brim to crown. In all hats, the hole at the top measures 7 inches/18 cm in circumference.
