This is a pattern for simple adult cuff down socks worked in the round. The German band heel is shaped using increases and decreases and the toe is grafted together using the Kitchener method. We used DK yarn for a quick knit! You do not need to pick up any stitches at all, therefore this is worth a try for a sock first timer.

The heel is also known as a square heel, for the rectangular shape it takes under the heel. It is easily adjustable for wider or narrower feet. We used a twisted rib cuff but a regular ribbed cuff works fine too.

They are mid calf socks. and require only a ball or 2 of yarn. for an adult size.

I first made these as a last minute gift and was hooked on them. I’ve made them in the most budget friendly acrylic/wool blend and I’ve made them in the most fancy merino/nylon hand dyed. They are so versatile and suitable for all.

You will need:

• 100g (150g, 200g) of DK yarn such as Stylecraft Batik 80% acrylic, 20% wool, 130m per 50g. I used Indigo.

• 3mm needle or size needed to obtain
  correct gauge.

• 80cm-long circular for magic loop, DPNs or two sets of circular needles.

• 4 stitch markers

• Darning needle

Gauge:
24 sts and 36 rows to 10cm/4 inches in stocking stitch
