Simple Cup Cozy, Bottom Up Version
A quick, simple cup cozy knit in the round and designed for a cup without a handle. The cozy has a bottom (so it kind of doubles as a coaster), is knit to fit the cup you’re working with, and is adaptable to whatever yarn and needles you want to use. It’d make a good stashbuster or functional gauge swatch, or a good project for practicing knitting in the round with double-pointed needles.
Note: This is not a standardized pattern requiring a specific gauge or a specific needle size, etc. Rather, it’s a set of instructions that lets you use any yarn and needles to produce a cozy for any handle-less cup. Simple math is required.
The designer’s guess at yardage is that she used under 30 yds for her version (2.75-inch diameter and about 3.5 inches tall), which used an approximately worsted-weight handspun two-ply. A better yardage estimate will be available after she knits the pattern in commercial yarn. ;) (Feel free to share your yardage experiences…)
