YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE  These socks fit American Girl dolls and quite a few other similar dolls such as Our Generation and Alexander. Two gauges are given. Use a fingering to  sport weight yarn for standard version and  adjust the stitch size for the foot portion to  get 7 stitches/10 rows/inch on a standard  Sock top  gauge or Passap machine. No ribber is required for this pattern. If you cannot match  both stitch and row gauge, match stitch gauge  and adjust for row gauge as described later in the pattern. For the mid-gauge bulky version, use a #3 yarn and adjust to get a gauge  of 5.5 stitches/7 rows/inch. Lion Modern Baby was used for the bulky sample and it is  ideal as it is a little bit stretchy. On my Brother 260, the gauge was achieved at 2.2 on  the dial.
