Simple Earth Hat
Added 9/26/12: Learn how to get this pattern at no charge.
This pattern came to be because I couldn’t find any men’s hat patterns I actually liked, so I decided to make my own. It is sized large enough to fit the average adult male. The gentleman modeling the finished project in the last picture is my eight year old nephew for whom the hat is obviously too large. It’s intended to be worn as is or with the band rolled up.
The instructions use simple stitches and American terminology.
Instructions for special stitches are included.
Supplies needed:
about 4 oz (180-190 yds) worsted weight cotton yarn
size I-9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook for main body
size G-6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook for band
yarn needle or smaller size hook for weaving in ends
size markers or scraps of yarn
