This is a quick simple and versatile pattern for hook or needle case. With only a few pieces its a great way to teach someone just learning, to do good uniform single Crochets.

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver 4 ply medium worsted
Color A: Soft White
Color B: Coffee
Color C: Aqua

Hook Size: I/ 5.5MM
Darning Needle

Gauge:
There really isn’t a gauge for this project as you will need to adjust for what your storing in it

These instructions are for a case that will hold about…15 hooks with three of them needing a double slot. If you need more slots then that just make more then rows…every two row will hold on standard aluminum hook.

With Color A : Ch 46

Row 1: SC in second ch from hook. Continue across, ch 1 turn,
45st

Row 2-40: SC in each st across, ch1 Turn, at row 40 fasten off and cut off end weave in

You should now have a rectangular piece, turn it side ways attach Color B to corner of shorter side This should be the side where you where turnin your work, work SC across to end, then work reverse SC back across, finish off and tuck in end, Fold this end up to just above center of work, Attach Color B to bottom right corner of work(this should be the corner formed by the fold) SC around the work, at this point you should have a pretty little pocket on one side and blank on the other…..Run reverse SC around the out side for a petty finish!

Now we are going to divide the large pocket you just made into hook sized pockets, Take a good length of Color A, you will see that the rows of SC make a natural grooves, use your darning needle to sew up the natural breaks to form either single or double pockets ending at the line of reverse SC at top of pocket.

With Color B or C,
Ch 3 , do 13 DC in second ch from hook, this is your button to close your case….attach button in the middle of small side, about 7 rows up,
Ch 40 and attach in a loop just under your button, fold case in thirds with button on top run loop around and hook on to button!!

At this point you can be done but if you would like extra storage below are some ideas for accessory pieces…..

Accessory Pocket:

With color C make a square of 15 SC by 15 SC, Attach to front of case, I use this on mine to keep a pair of fold able Scissors, you can create more then one of these if you have other things you want to keep there like needle caps or hook grips….

Darning Needle Strap:

Color C, whip St across 10 st move down 4 rows and do the same this can now be used to hold darning needles and stitch holders and markers.
