Team Santa or Team Elf?
This pattern makes both a santa and an elf hat.

This simple Elf Hat / Santa Hat pattern is available in sizes 0-3 months – large adult and is finished with a chunky ribbed brim. It is a joy to hook and is the perfect Christmas hat for all the family.

Yarn:
Main body -Stylecraft Special Aran - or other aran / worsted acrylic yarn (Santa hat – red / Elf hat – red and cream)
Brim – stylecraft special dk or other dk yarn (Santa hat – white or cream / Elf hat – Green)

0 – 3 months – approx. 30g / 30g
3 – 6 months – approx. 35g /30g
6 - 12 months – approx. 45g /35g
1 – 3 years – approx. 50g /45g
3 – 5 years – approx. 55g /50g
6 – 10 years – approx. 60g / 55g
Small adult / teen – approx.65g / 60g
Medium adult – approx. 70g / 65g
Large adult – approx. 75g / 70g

This pattern is written using UK crochet terminology and I have included US terminology in blue in the pattern notes if you wish to convert.

The Brim: The brim is made using dk weight yarn with 2 strands held together. I find this gives the hat a chunky, snug fit. Alternatively, you could use Aran / worsted weight yarn if you prefer (held single).
