Simple Spiral Hat
Another of The Tea Cozy’s favorite crochet hat patterns, this one is from the 2018 Puget Sound Local Yarn Store Tour. Worked from the top down, it’s a versatile and easy project. Make it into a beanie or work a few extra rounds to add a bit of slouchiness - your choice.
Sizes: Baby (Child, Adult)
Finished measurements: About 13” (17”, 21”) around (unstretched) and 5” (7”, 10”) tall. Hat will stretch to fit head sizes approx. 2” larger around.
Yarn: Malabrigo Arroyo (100 gr/335 yards, 100% Merino Superwash); 1 skein.
Hooks: US size G (4.00 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
US size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook (or one size smaller than gauge hook).
Notions: removable stitch marker or waste yarn, darning needle.
Gauge: 21 HDC sts and 16 HDC rows = 4 inches (10 cm) on larger hook after blocking. You may use the beginning of your hat as the gauge swatch - it should measure 3 “ in diameter after round 5 is completed (unblocked). Adjust hook size as needed.
