Simple Stillness Shawl
About this pattern:
Having an easy project to pick up when you’re watching a binge-worthy series or movie, visiting family, or hanging out with friends is the key to keeping your stress level low. I wrote this pattern at a time when stress-free knitting was exactly what I needed. Now I hope you find some moments of calm as you knit the Simple Stillness Shawl. It’s a great opportunity to play with color! No pressure! Just grab some sock weight yarn you love and go for it. My approach is that colors listed in patterns are just suggestions. Pick the colors your heart desires, and then take a deep breath as you cast on for this fun project!

MATERIALS
Yarn:
Fingering/sock weight yarn. You’ll need a full skein of Fingering/sock yarn – at least 400 yards – for the main color.
The sample was made with the following yarn:
Hand Dyed Diva Homegrown Sock (80% Superwash Shaniko Wool, 20% Nylon; 400 yds/336 m per 100 gr skein)
1 skein One-of-a-Kind Blue (A) – at least 400 yards. This is a great opportunity to use a one-of-a-kind skein!
1 skein Sole Mates (B) – or approximately 220 yards/55 grams of something in a neutral color like gray or camel.
1 skein of Pretty Is (C) – or approximately 220 yards/55 grams of a mostly white yarn with speckles.
1 skein of Antique Rose (D) – or approximately 160 yards/40 grams of a color in the reds or pinks family.
Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles 24” long, or size needed to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions:
Stitch marker, tapestry needle
GAUGE
24 sts and 32 rows = 4” in Stockinette. Exact gauge is not critical to the success of this project, but working to a different gauge will alter the finished size and the amount of yarn required.
