These socks are fast and easy, yet they do have  shaped toes and heels. Because of their stretch,  no ribbing is required. This means that the tricky  step of transferring rib to circular knitting is  avoided as the entire sock is knitted circular  Because the top hem is not tight, the socks are suitable for patients with  circulatory problems. This pattern is adapted from techniques often used by those  who own circular sock machines. Why should they have all the fun?

YARN, GAUGE & MACHINE:  Make these socks with Tamm Astracryl 3-ply plus a strand of cotton/spandex run-along.  The acrylic yarn is soft and comfy but its memory  is greatly improved by the stretchy run-along yarn. Because of the stretch, the entire  sock may be knitted without ribbing The pattern requires 2 beds and can be knitted on  any 5mm Passap double bed machine or 4.5 mm Japanese machine with a ribber. 7 stitches/10 rows per inch.  To make a version on the bulky or mid-gauge machine, use Tamm Nordic which is also a  soft acrylic that gets about 5 stitches and 7 rows per inch. Also use the stretchy run-along.
