My very favorite knitting stitch pattern is “Old Shale”, I just love the soft waves the stitch pattern creates. I used this traditional stitch pattern in a modern asymmetrical shape along with a few stripes that transition to a contrasting border. An optional simple stripe along the right edge adds additional interest and frames the wave pattern. The shawl is a simple, quick knit that makes for a perfect take-along project. It is a pattern you’ll return to time and again for its simplicity and beauty. It also makes a wonderful gift!

Knits up quickly and is a great take-along project to work on while watching the kids at soccer or baseball. Or when you are waiting at the doctors office or when traveling.
