For lace weight yarn the gauge is 12st Х 16rows in 2’’x2’’or 5Х5cm
For fingering and sock yarn the gauge is 11st Х 15rows in 2’’x2’’or 5Х5cm
For sports weight yarn the gauge is 10st x 14 rows in 2’’x2’’ or 2x5cm.

Bactus will need from 368 yard to 700 yards for large and long one.
Pictured bactus measures 155cm and is 31 wide in the middle requires about 440 yards of lace weight yarn.
In sports weight yarn this bactus will measure 180x34cm and will need about 368 yard of yarn , for example Nature spun 168m=50gr, 2 skeins.
The pattern is quite simple and the size of the scarf is adjustable. This bactus can be made in lace, fingering or sports weight yarns. 700 yard of lace yarn produces extra large size batus about 55cm wide and 2.4m long blocked.
In fingering weight yarn the starting yardage is from 368 yard. Any yarn in your stash you like that has over 360m is good.
Needles:
2mm-2.75mm for lace weight yarn
3mm-3.5mm for fingering weight yarn
4mm for sports weight yarn
Soft lace weight or gossamer yarns will be a nice choice for this pattern. The variety of yarns can be used
Authentic Orenburg goat down plied with silk or cotton yarns (lace weight).
Alpaca (Misti Alpaca lace solids, lace Canada, )
Fingering weigh alpaca and mohair yarns (mohair yarns that have relatively low halo would work best).
