This shawl is a simple creature. A project of simple pleasures. An asymmetrical triangle of garter stitch and eyelet stripes. The lovely diagonal drape of the final fabric brings so much movement to this gentle design. It’s an absolute pleasure to knit and to wear. Warm, cosy, comforting.

A shawl is basically a hug made out of yarn. After I knit my first one, I was obsessed, because the process of knitting a shawl is just as lovely as the reward of wearing it once you’re done. It’s dynamic and engaging: I love watching the shape grow and change under my needles. It’s also relaxing and stress-free: no overthinking about gauge or fussing about fit. Just quiet hours of peaceful knitting with a super-wearable, fun accessory I can throw on any time, with any kind of outfit.

I designed the Simply Curious Shawl to deliver that chilled-out experience to anyone who wants a blissfully simple shawl project. That means brand new beginners and also people like me: experienced shawl makers who often knit to unwind.
