Do you like to knit wool soakers but hate picking up stitches for the legs? Do you finish the main body of the soaker and let the rest wait for a few weeks because you don’t want to do it? Here is the pattern for this exact issue. The legs are what sets this pattern apart. They are knit as part of the main body and not picked up like most other soaker patterns. It is therefore a true one-piece pattern. The main motivation for drafting this pattern was because picking up stitches for the legs always seemed so tedious.

This soaker is knit in the round top down, first 2x2 rib and later 2x8 semi-rib for at snug fit. Then stockinette stitch for the rest of the main body and garter stitch for the legs.

The skill level is intermediate or advanced and adventurous beginner. The pattern is written to be easy to read and understand, but there may be techniques not familiar to newer knitters, like German short rows and the Kitchener stitch.

Sizes: 0-3mo (3-6mo, 6-12mo, 1-2Y, 2-3Y, 3-4Y). The sizes listed are suggestions only as babies grow at different rates. The waist circumference of this pattern are 6 ¾ (7 ½, 8 ½, 9 ¼, 10, 11)”. Make sure to include room for the cloth diaper inside, and if in between sizes choose the larger one.

The suggested yarn is worsted weight non-superwash wool. A soft wool is beneficial, and elasticity is key for the fit.

Yarn usage is 95 (125, 160, 190, 220, 250) yards total.

Needles used are size 6 circular 16”, size 8 circular 16”, and size 8 straight needles. Notions used are stitch holder, stitch markers and tapestry needle.
