Introducing Simply Subtle Mosaic! This is a modified take on overlay mosaic crochet. Where typical overlay mosaic is made by working the right side only with yarn cut and reattached at each row, this blanket is made from a single color by working in continuous turned rows to produce a classy, textured design with far fewer ends to deal with. The “right side” of the pattern still follows overlay technique with sc through back loops and dc through front loops 2 rows below. The “wrong side” is worked through front loops only.

This is an easy repeating pattern, 22 stitches x 36 rows, so it can easily be customized to any size or project. The sample is made using Lion Brand Feels Like Butta yarn in Pale Gray (weight 4, approximately 1159 yds), and a 4.0 mm crochet hook. It measures approximately 30 x 30”, perfect size for a baby blanket!
