The Simpukka Socks pattern is part of Finland’s Box of Socks 2021 campaign. The English version of the pattern will be available on June 1st.

SUKKALAATIKKO 2021: SIMPUKKA SOCKS

Simpukka-sukat ovat neulottu varresta varpaisiin sport-vahvuisella langalla, jossa sukkien vartta koristaa simpukkareuna ja varsi- sekä jalkateräosuutta helmiä muistuttava pintaneule. Sukat ovat ohuet, pehmeät ja lämpimät pidettävät tuulisina päivinä merenrannalla tai vaikka kotona ollessa kevätpäivinä.

Koko 1: 34–36
Koko (2): (37–39)
Koko 3: 40–44

Lanka:
Noin 250–300 m Rva Silmusolmu Merino Sport Sukkis (80% superwash-merinovilla, 20% nylon; 300 metriä per 100 g) tai muuta sport-vahvuista sukkalankaa

Jotta pintaneule tulee kauniisti esille, niin suosittelen valitsemaan solidin (yksivärinen) tai kevyen specklelangan tähän työhön!

Tiheys:
10 cm x 10 cm = 24 s x 36 krs sileää neuletta viimeistelyn jälkeen

Puikot:
3,00 mm sukkapuikot

In English:

The Simpukka Socks are worked from cuff down using sport weight yarn. The cuff has a beautiful picot edging and the leg and instep of the foot are knitted with a textured knit and purl pattern. The socks are light and warm to wear for a windy day on the beach or on Summer nights.

Size:
There are three sizes in the pattern.
Size 1 for foot circumfrence Ø 20 cm / 8”
Size (2) for foot circumfrence Ø 22 cm / 8.25”
Size 3 for foot circumfrence Ø 24 cm / 9.50”

Yarn:
Approx. 250–300 m / 273 to 328 yrds of Rva Silmusolmu Merino Sport Sukkis (80% superwashed merino wool, 20% nylon; 300 meters / 328 yards per 100 g) or any other sport weight sock yarn

I highly recommend to choose a very lightly speckeld or a solid coloured yarn for these socks so that the textured pattern comes through!

Gauge:
10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” = 24 sts x 36 rows in Stockinette Stitch in a round after blocking

Needles:
3 mm / US 2.5 DPNs (double pointed needles)
