Lacy sail boats ride the waves on this picot hemmed sock.
In Greek mythology, Sirens were half bird, half beautiful women who lured sailors to their doom. In The Odyssey, when Odysseus was able to pass by them unharmed, they hurled themselves into the sea and were drowned.
The Sirens were also peripherally involved the abduction of Persephone by Hades. In one version, Demeter turned the Sirens into bird-like monsters because they had failed to help her daughter; in another version, the Sirens asked Demeter for wings, so that they can better help her search for Persephone.
