Sita Hat
SITA is a simple and easy textured hat, knit in the round.
The pattern is easily adaptable to any size and yarn weight due to the 4 stitch pattern repeat. I made the sample slightly slouchy, but if you want a beanie, knit it shorter, or keep the length and fold up the brim. The hat is fully reversible, with the pattern creating a beautiful textured fabric on both sides. It is perfect to show off beautifully that one skein of semisolid, speckled or striped indie dyed yarn in your stash.
The hat is the fruit of the inspiring book Sequence Knitting by Cecelia Campochiaro. I am by no means skilled neither in computer sciences nor in maths, but this book gave me a comprehensive overview of how patterns can be created by the different combinations of 0 and 1. I wanted to try out a simple pattern repeat to create an interesting right-leaning swirling texture and yet keep it as simple as possible. Sequence knitting is based on a fixed sequence of knits and purls on a specific number of stitches. This hat is made out of two different sequences using the spiral method: the brim and the body of the hat, before you move on to the crown decreases.
