Sitaren Scarf
सितारे sitārē , means “stars” in Hindi (pronounced ‘sita-ray’)
This pattern is worked from the bottom up. This pattern uses the superb star stitch. The first row of your project defines the width of your scarf. Gauge is unimportant as it will vary for different yarns. The scarf ‘slides’ diagonally every few rows, with one ‘increasing edge’, though the number of stitches remain constant from the first row.
This pattern has been tested using :
1.3-ply acrylic Oswal Mills , 70 g / 400 yds ; 4 mm crochet hook ;
2.Premier Deborah Norville Sock Yarn , 3 oz (2 skeins) ; 4 mm (G) crochet hook ;
Comments : Clear instructions & photos ; Took about 20 hrs ; Gauge : 7 stars across x 2 rows in pattern (1 rep) = 2.5” ;
3.Hortense (German yarn) , 130 g/ 336 m ; 4 mm crochet hook ; Comments : Very clear photos and instructions , The longer this scarf gets the more I love it!!!
Skill level by tester : Advanced beginner/Intermediate.
