Sixpence
Knitted in a lovely sport weight yarn, Sixpence is a modified half-circle Pi shawl, in which the number of stitches between the 4 edge stitches on either side are approximately doubled each time the number of rows between increases doubles.
Finished Measurements:
Width: 49 (56, 70 1⁄2, 77)“ / 124.5 (142, 179, 195.5) cm after blocking
Length at center back: 22 (25 1⁄2, 32 3⁄4, 36)“ / 56 (65, 83, 91.5) cm after blocking
Shown in size 56” / 142 cm
Suggested Yarn:
2 (2, 3, 4) skeins Dragonfly Fibers Damsel (335 yd / 306 m per 4 oz / 113 g skein; 100% Superwash Merino Wool) in Velvet Underground. Pattern as written calls for approximately 425 (593, 967, 1193) yards/388 (542, 884, 1091)m or 144 (200, 327, 427) grams of the suggested yarn.
If using a hand-dyed yarn, such as that used for the sample, work from 2 skeins of yarn, alternating 2 rows from one skein with 2 rows from the other skein, in order to blend any variations in color.
Gauge:
20 sts and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch after blocking; 19 sts and 25 rows = 4” / 10 cm over Chart B pattern after blocking
Correct gauge is not critical for this project, but your final measurements and yardage requirements may vary if your gauge is different. To save time and to ensure accurate sizing, please check your gauge.
