Sixteen
Sixteen is a wide triangle-shaped lace shawl, edged with garter stitch and finished with a delicate picot bind-off. I was lucky enough to purchase some Pirate Purl Yarns Voyager yarn, a lovely woolly Australian Polwarth fingering yarn, to use for this shawl. What a treat!
Yarn
Approximately 580 yards/530 metres of fingering weight yarn.
The sample was made using: Pirate Purl Yarns Voyager Fingering (100% Polwarth Wool Yarn; 4ply/fingering; 580 yards/530 metres per 150 grams), in Cloudy Breath, 1 skein.
Needles & Notions
US 6 / 4 mm circular needles, 32 inches/80 cm or longer, to accommodate the large number of stitches; 2 stitch markers; tapestry needle; blocking equipment.
Gauge
17 stitches and 40 rows per 4 inches/10 cm in garter stitch after blocking. Gauge is not crucial but a different gauge will alter the finished size, drape and amount of yarn required.
Finished Measurements
Width (Wingspan) 69 inches/175.5 cm; Depth 28.5 inches/72.5 cm. All measurements are after blocking.
