SJ Crew Socks
This is a very basic ribbed sock pattern. The one “clever” thing about them is the use of a contrasting color yarn just before the toe decreases.
Since I knit these socks for my growing child, I wanted to ensure that they would last for a while - not just until the next growth spurt.
The ribbing will allow for considerable sideways growth. When the socks get a little snug lengthwise, I shall pick up the stitches before the contrasting round, unravel the toe, and knit a bit more foot before restoring the toe.
After all, there is a lot of time and yarn invested in a pair of socks. Who wants the child to outgrow them in one semester?
PS - These socks were knit in navy blue since that is my child’s school’s color. The contrasting round of red makes it very easy to see where to start picking up the stitches for lengthening.
