Borrowing from the construction of the Icelandic lopi sweater, it’s a new take on the “Skautbuningur”, an Icelandic festive traditional costume. The sweater is knitted in the round, steeked, then sts are picked up along the edges and around the collar and the motif band knitted in one piece in the round then steeked.
