This design was initially created so that I could use as banners and based on Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. This celebration has been an integral part of my entire life, and I absolutely love the history and purpose of the celebrations. Every November, we remember our relatives and ancestors by creating altars with pictures, their favorite foods, candles, etc., and gathering to tell remembrance stories. In my city, we also have parades and all kinds of city-wide celebrations. My version came out a little big to use as banners due to my yarn choice!
This pattern is created using overlay mosaic crochet techniques. If you already know the overlay mosaic technique, this is considered a beginner pattern as there are no special stitches. All of my patterns include both graphs and written row by row directions.
Pattern Specifics: 3 Pattern Options included with full written and graphs for each!
- 105 stitches by 177 rows
- Approximately 600 yards each of two contrasting colors
- Yardage and finished size are dependent on the size hook and yarn you use, as well as your tension and whether you use the negative stitch.
- Approximate size using 4mm: 27”x44”, check photos for stats on pictured project
- 1 large graph marked with Xs in light blue and white, sectioned, blown up graphs marked with Xs
