Skinny Bag
SKINNY BAG (because we sometimes just want a small size)
Pattern copyright Anne Kitzman
June 8, 2019
This is a cute SKINNY BAG that measures 9” x 12” and it’s 2” wide at the bottom. My iPad fits perfectly inside and still leaves room for my iPhone, glasses, a small makeup bag and my wallet with room to spare. Sometimes that’s all I want to carry. I didn’t make a lining for it but you can easily add one if you prefer.
It’s crocheted from the bottom up, in rounds.
Popcorn stitches give the bottom of the bag a nice firm base to build the sides upon, plus they add a cute design element.
The flap is crocheted separately in a half circle and then either slip stitched or hand sewn onto the bag.
An adorable, easy to crochet ruffled flower is added to the flap, sewn onto a button on the back to hide sewing stitches.
The best part of this bag is the handle/strap crocheted with bullion stitches! It’s not really difficult, I have made a video showing how to make them EASILY using a stitch holder.
You can view the video at my Youtube Channel before you get the pattern so you can practice first.
Bullion Stitch and Chainless Foundation Instructions HERE
Red Heart Super Saver Stripes yarn - 1 skein total (I worked with 2 skeins so I could control colors better.) I used color Polo Stripe.
Size 4mm hook
Gauge: not important, but this is it.
11 rows hdc = 4” and 15 hdc stitches = 4”
Note: This pattern may be best for intermediate to advanced crocheters or someone who wants to learn some new stitches and isn’t afraid of a bit of a challenge! There is nothing too difficult here, I noted which stitches are explained within this pattern, but if you don’t know how to do some of the stitches, instruction videos can be found on my Youtube channel.
