Skjól
The sweater is knit top-down, using a circular needle. I prefer using a 32” needle (or longer) and the magic loop method - a method that allows the knitter to use a long circular needle for knitting any diameter. The construction is seamless - meaning in the end you’ll only have a few ends to weave in, no Kitchener drama or anything of the liking! The fit is loose and in the first one I knit is worn as much by myself and my teenage daughter who is quite a bit slimmer than her mom.
The top down construction has many advantages - you can try the garment on at any time you like, you can adjust the fit and make more intuitive changes - AND the best part, you can decide for yourself how long you want the body and the sleeves to be. Heck… why not knit yourself a dress!
By the way - Skjól is the Icelandic word for Shelter - we all need shelter and the pattern is sold in Iceland as a kit to support the women’s shelter in Reykjavík
