MATERIALS
Yarn: 65 (70) 75 g of Sandnes Sunday (100 % merino wool – 235 m /257 yds / 50 g), color forest green (9882), and 30 (35) 35 g of Isager Silk Mohair (75 % kid mohair, 25 % silk - 212 m / 231 yds / 25 g), color forest green (68). The hat is worked with holding both yarns together.
-Needles: 2.75 mm (US2) long circular needle for magic loop or 40 cm /16” circular needle and DPNs.
-Notions: 8 removable st markers (1 different for BOR), tapestry
needle.
-Gauge: 34 sts x 40 rnds = 10 cm / 4” of ribbing without any
stretching.
If you don’t like wearing mohair, you can use any yarn that goes to gauge. The hat should be more tight than loose after finishing just because it gets wider on use.
Skogen Hat is perfect for relaxed outdoor life, but thanks to the
fashionable and contemporary look, it suits for urban outfitters as well.
The hat is worked with holding 2 strands, 1 fingering weight merino wool strand and 1 silk mohair strand, together. Blurry mohair makes the hat soft, and interesting crown decreases are fun to make. You can choose yarns with similar colorways or use the mohair as a popping effect that changes the shade of the fabric. If you skip the mohair, you get a classic hat. If you prefer that, check your gauge and yarn choice so the hat keeps its shape.
To get the perfect look for the edge, use the tubular cast on method. If you’re a beginner, use the classic long-tail CO method.
