Skogsviol – forest violet, is one of the most common violet flowers in Sweden and can be found in all parts of the country.
The Skogsviol vest has a textured pattern with small clusters of flowers, bouquets if you will, like the ones small children pick for their mothers.

NOTES ON THE PATTERN

Sizes:
6-12 months, 1-2 years, 2-4 years, 6-8 years, 10-12 years

Sizing:
The sizing is generous. The vest is designed to fit the child for 1-2 years and to be oversized at the beginning of the time of wear, and loose fit at the end of the time of wear. It is designed with 10-12 cm positive ease.

Finished measurements:
55cm/21,6inch, 61cm/24inch, 68cm/26,7inch, 77cm/30inch, 86 cm/33,8inch

Suggested yarn:
Filtmakeriet Finull Förgarn. An unspun yarn made from Swedish fine wool. I suggest you find something similar local to you.

The vest is knitted from the bottom up, starting in the round and separating for the front and back. The shoulders are grafted with a three needle bind off. The flower bouquet pattern is described with a chart, and consists partly of small bobbles. The neckline is straight, with a rib pattern that extends across the shoulder on front and back. The drop shoulder and wide armhole rib, create a short sleeve effect.

Enjoy knitting this cute little sweater vest, let your child wear it for as long as possible, mend it if needed, and make sure to pass it on once your child has grown out of it. Textiles, and wool in particular, are a precious resource.
