Skulls and Flowers
I fell in love with the original graph but didn’t care for the crosses. I loved the floral look started with the leaves and wanted to add a bit more feminine a touch so I swapped them for flowers. I also added some grid lines above and below to extend the pattern in length. I love unusual designs so instead of decreasing the pattern and giving it a rounded top I made it interesting with a tricorner top. I think it gives it some character. It also allows the pattern to be seen flat which really makes it pop.To really make this flashy make the alternate yarn a color changing one. It will add depth and character to the piece. If you have a size large or larger head go up a needle size because although you want it snug enough for warmth you do want some breathing room and to not have creases left from yarn being smashed into your head.
Ps, this will be free because the original chart was free. It inspired me and I changed a good bit but I feel it would be dirty to profit from someone else’s idea. You should definitely check out some of the other projects done from the chart. Look for Deathflake 2 by Jim Furr.
I misspelled a couple of words but there has been no change to the pattern itself, for those that have already downloaded it. I simply corrected my spell check’s aggressive altering of Fair Isle to fair aisle to the correct, even if it doesn’t like it, version. :)
