Notions: 2 stitch markers, split ring markers, small tapestry needle for embroidery.

Notes: The Sky Map Shawl is knit in the round from end to end in stocking stitch creating a rectangular shawl made up of two layers of knitting. Faux seams run along the sides of the shawl. After knitting and blocking both layers flat, yarn B is used to stitch stars, constellations and moons through both layers of knitting, creating a quilted effect. Tassels are then attached along the short edges of the shawl.

The layout and placement of stars is entirely up to the knitter. Please do not feel limited to the sample design, but also feel free to use any aspect of the design that suits you. This is a chance to stitch exactly what and where you please. It’s basically a chance to draw on your knitting! Experienced embroiderers may want to incorporate other types of stitches and techniques, while a novice should feel free to dive in with confidence.
