About the Skye Beanie
The Skye beanie is a close-fitting beanie knitted from the bottom up with a wide stockinette brim and a top in (optional: twisted) rib stitch. The crown of the hat is shaped by emphasised decreases and the cuff is folded over.
Please read the entire instruction before you start knitting.

After washing: approx. 24 sts x 36 rows in stockinette stitch and rib pattern (k1, p1) = 10x10 cm.
Suggested needles:
3.5 mm double-pointed needles or 3.5 mm (40 cm) circular needle, depending on preference.
Materials:
The hat is knitted with two strands of yarn held together, one strand of mohair and one strand of merino.
- You need approx. 150 (180) 210 (260) 290 (330) m of both yarn qualities (merino + mohair).
- That corresponds to about 50 (50) 50 (100) 100 (100) g Sandnes Sunday (50g/235m) or Knitting for Olive Merino (50g/250m) held together with 25 (25) 25 (50) 50 (50) g Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair (25g/212m) or Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (25g/225m).
Yarn alternatives:
If you want to knit a version without mohair, you can instead
- knit with two threads merino yarn, as for example 100 (100) 100 (150) 150 (150) g Sandnes Sunday (50g/235m) or Knitting for Olive Merino (50g/250m).
- use a mohair free alternative instead of the mohair thread as e.g. Midnatssol by CaMaRose (25g/200m).
- use any other yarn or yarn combination you like, as long as you get the gauge right. During the testknit, some thicker merino yarns were tested as well, such as Double Sunday by Sandnes Garn or Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive. The gauge only matched in width and not in height, but the final result was still as desired, although the yarn consumption was somewhat lower. As long as you get the width of the gauge right, you can experiment with different yarns.
Please note: as English is not my native language minor grammatical mistakes can occur. This should not influence the readability of the pattern and it has been carefully tested by my lovely testknitters, but if there are any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us via joselotta@posteo.de .
