Skye the Selkie
Selkies are mythological shape shifters found in Celtic and Norse mythology and folklore. Tales of them can be found in Ireland, Scotland and the Faroe Islands. Shedding their seal skin to become human when they come to land, they have captured the imaginations of those who live near the sea over the years, finding their way into many folk tales. From stories of young romantics shedding tears into the sea to attract a selkie lover, to stories of selkies trapped on shore by those who have stolen their skin - stories of Selkies range from mysterious to tragic.
This pattern will allow you to make a Selkie doll that has a removable dress and seal skin outfit so she can complete her human to seal transformation. There are instructions for both long hair and short hair, so you can customize her look.
