Yarn: Viola Shadow DK (DK weight; 50% Polwarth, 35% Wensleydale, 15% Zwartbles; 283 m / 308 yds per 100 g skein)
Shades (Mittens):
Yarn A: Frozen Earth; 1 skein
Yarn B: Pebble; 1 skein
Gauge: 24 sts & 38 rounds = 10 cm / 4” over Mitten Reversible Columns Pattern on 4.5 mm needles, with 1 strand each of yarns A and B held together, after blocking
Needles: 4.5 mm / US 7 knitting needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: 1 stitch marker, 1 locking stitch marker, scrap yarn or stitch holder, tapestry needle
Notes: The Skyhill Mittens are knit in the round, using slipped sts on the RS and WS of work to create a three-dimensional fabric. Slipped stitches form vertical lines, and are staggered from RS to WS. Bobbles adorn the mitten cuff. Double stranded Shadow DK is beautiful marled or using two strands of the same colour.
