Skyler the Pocket Dragon
Crochet Pattern for Skyler the Pocket Dragon, the adorable tiny dragon in amigurumi - aka stuffed animal! It is an instant pdf download - not a physical item.
Great size for a small gift, stocking stuffer, or keychain!
It makes for an adorable toy for any boy or girl! This dragon pattern can also make you a fun friend to take with you to a Renaissance Faire!
You should already know how to crochet the stitches listed below before buying this pattern.
This was tested by my amazing team!
Size: 6 inches snout to tail - takes me about 2 hours to make.
Difficulty: Medium. An adventurous beginner might be able to do this.
Stitches (US) : sl, sc, inc, dec, fpsc, mc, hdc, dc, surface crochet
Automatic download for pdf document in English US Terms
This top quality pattern is 9 pages (5 if you print double sided!) and guides you along with plenty of pictures and tips.
Gauge: 20 single crochet stitches by 22 rows makes a 4x4 inch square.
Because this is a non-wearable item, you don’t need to stress too much about guage as long as your stitches are tight enough that the stuffing doesn’t show.
Suggested Yarn
Worsted Weight, 4 ply Acrylic Yarn
There are so many ways you can do the colors for this! I liked making the main color lighter and then a darker version of the same color for the second color.
For the red dragon I used:
I used worsted weight, 4ply acrylic yarn. RHSS = Red Heart Super Saver
Red – RHSS “Cherry Red” – 37 yards
Orange – RHSS “Pumpkin” – 6 yards
White – RHSS “White” – less than 1 yard
Black – RHSS “Black” – less than 1 yard
Yardage can vary by person and gauge. These are estimates based on my own use. It is always good to have a little extra just in case!
You will also need:
Sizes D (3.25) Crochet Hook
Stuffing
9 mm Safety Eyes (Remember not for toddlers or destructive kids!)
Wire: I used 1 pipe cleaners – this is optional for the tail, but recommended!
