This hat was inspired by the Empire State Building. One of my main goals on my most recent trip to NYC was to visit the observatory. The only time I was near it was when I walked by on my way to the subway station. I grabbed a few quick photos from the street and made my peace with not making it to the top.

When I got home I looked at my quickly taken photos and found myself entranced by the waffle of the windows. I loved how the eye moved up step by step until you were left with blue skies. I grabbed some solid Aran weight yarn and created the Skyscraper. The hat is made from a simple knit and purl pattern.
