The definition of Slalom is any winding or zigzag course marked by obstacles or barriers. Slalom is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline, involving skiing between poles or gates, . which are spaced closely necessitating quicker and shorter turns. A course is constructed by laying out a series of gates. The skier must pass between the two poles forming the gate, with the tips of both skis and the skier’s feet passing between the poles. The gates are arranged in a variety of configurations to challenge the competitor.

This pattern made me think of Slalom skiing. With varying lengths of twisted stitches the mitts appear to have the slalom marks in the snow from the skiers.

Ribbing, varying twisted stitches/cables, and arm length cuffs make these mittens both fashionable and warm. The pattern is written to be customized for yourself or the recipient of your choice. Use smaller or larger needles or reduce or increase repetitions size is to accommodate children and adults with slender or larger hands. Enjoy the stretchy fabric and vertical slalom lines of this mitten pattern.

Instructions are also included for a fingerless mitt option.
