I used DK wool & 3.5mm hook.

Pattern contains plenty of pictures and clear instructions on how to create yours.

Although I have shown how to sew the lining on using a sewing machine you could hand sew if you don’t have one, or just leave it out if you don’t want a fabric insert :)
