Elegant, luxurious, and warm, this stole can be crumpled up into a thick scarf, or worn over the shoulders of lovely dress. The lace pattern was created by the designer to recall the lines of traditional plaid. The original published with Interweave as a large luxurious stole; the Designer’s Cut also includes a smaller size for warmer seasons, as well as 5 variations on the lace pattern.
The Designer’s Cut includes both charts and written instructions for the stitches, as well as diagrams of the different different overall patterns that can be created from the basic modules. You can see some of them in the projects. In the Interweave versions (IK Fall 2010, and the book Knitted Lace) the stitches are given in written instructions only.
For the larger, heavier stole, either laceweight held double or a light fingering weight yarn can be used.

A tutorial for the sideways stitch used in this pattern is here (this link is also included in the designer’s version).
