Slate of Eight Shawl
This is a triangular lace shawl knit from the neck down. You begin with a garter tab and some set up rows and then work from a chart for as many repeats as you wish.
There is a center lace motif and mirror-image side motifs. Every pass through the 16-row pattern adds 32 stitches which are then incorporated into the pattern on the next pass.
Sample was made with 8 repeats and measures 53” wide and 23” deep. I chose to add tassels after some of the photos were taken but these are optional. Knitters can add or delete repeats according to personal taste, yarn quantity, etc. Sample used about 1.5 skeins of Madeline Tosh Pashmina.
I do recommend a yarn with some silk content for drape and softness but this is optional. The pattern has photos and information for a sample knit in all wool using two fingering yarns held together on Size 8 needles. Very customizable.
