Slate is a feminine yet modern garment that features a seamless, top down construction.
It fits snugly at the yoke but has plentiful ease at the hem allowing for a flattering silhouette that would complement most body shapes.
This top provides a relaxing knit of mostly stockinette with a band of simple lace along the hem and sleeve cuffs to keep things
interesting.
Slipped stitches form delicate raglan lines that are angled slightly away from underarms creating a non-traditional raglan yoke formation.

First, all neck stitches are cast on provisionally, then the back is raised with Short-rows. After that, the yoke is worked in the round with slipped stitches for raglan lines. Next, two lines of Lateral Braid are worked, visually connecting raglans at the front and at the back and separating a close-fitting yoke from a more voluminous lower part.
In the next row multiple increases are worked to create volume. Soon after, the sleeves are separated, and the rest of the body is worked straight in stocking stitch with an addition of lace along the hem line.
Sleeves are also worked in the round and have a line of Lateral Braid at the elbow, a row of increases to add volume and a narrow band of lace as a finish.
In the end, neck stitches are placed back on the needle and worked with an I-cord bind off.

want to choose a smaller size because the garment is designed to be fitted at the bust but has a lot of positive ease at the hem.

YARN:

Fingering weight yarn which gives you the required gauge and approx. 167 m per 50 g.

• if you use fingering weight yarn you do NOT need to hold it double.
• if you use lace weight yarn, 2 strands will need to be held together and you will need to double the yardage indicated.

NEEDLES:

Circular needle 80 cm / 32” long in size needed to obtain the correct gauge (main needle).
Suggested size: 3 mm / US 2.5.
Circular needle 60 cm / 24” long, at least 2 sizes smaller than main needle for I-cord bind off.
Suggested size: 2.5 mm / US 1.

NOTIONS:

Tapestry needle, stitch markers, smooth scrap yarn, crochet hook size 3 mm / US D (if using crochet chain for provisional CO).
