Sleek & Chic Jacket
LOVE top-down construction garments? Look no further. This jacket - designed to be worked top down is perfect for that fit-as-you-go tailor made crochet garment! You’ll really love the way you look in this jacket.
The surprise subtlety is a double crochet cross cable stitch running along the side panels and across the upper arm.
This jacket is also designed to have fabric lining attached to the inside of the garment. Why, you ask? Lining helps the garment retain its shape over time and will serve to insulate heat while it is on.
Now, lining the garment may seem like a daunting task but is not too difficult to achieve. Here’s the secret: when lining a crocheted garment you want to stretch the area to be lined as you sew; working in the loops closest to you only. Still not convinced? No worries, the pattern instructions provide for both lined and non-lined options.
Sleeves: because the jacket is constructed top-down there is an option for the sleeves to be constructed in the same matter as opposed to the set in sleeve as the pattern will guide. Either a set-in or top down constructed sleeve will work with this design.
This is a really great jacket and pretty simple to work up. The most time-consuming aspect is the collar as it is worked in slip stitch ribbing. Otherwise it is a series of double crochets then fasten off - fun!
