Functional, washable, pretty placemats. The way the pattern is offered, there are frequent yarn cuts, making for a lot of strands to be sewn on along one side of the edge. You can use fewer colors or less frequent color changes if you do not want to do as much finishing work. The potholder pattern is written for two colors only.

If you follow the pattern as is, you should be able to finish at least four placemats and the pot holder with two skeins of the main color and one each of the contrast colors.
