Slip Stitch Stripey Socks
Here’s an easy and free sock pattern I worked up for daughter in law Cindee! These fun cuff down socks use the Tweed Rib Stitch Pattern to add a lively texture. The slipped stitches create fun little dashes and dots of color. This pattern would work well to break up unwanted pooling in variegated yarns and adds a nice texture to solids. I love the effect with self striping yarns!
Despite using slip stitches, this is a very stretchy stitch pattern. The leg of my finished sock is 5″ in circumference unstretched, but easily stretches to 10″ in circumference.
You can use variable amounts of yarn depending on the length of the leg. Following pattern directions uses approx 300 to 350 yards.
Materials:
100 grams fingering weight sock yarn
size 2.25 mm (US 1) needles – double points or one long circular
2 stitch markers if using circular needle
