A simple slip stitch pattern makes nice verticle columns used in this simple beanie. This is a good beginner project for slipped stitch knitting.

The pattern comes in one size, but a smaller size can be obtained by switching to a slightly lighter yarn and smaller needles (see thirs photo for the smaller hat).
