I played around with this slip stitch pattern for quite awhile, wanting something playful and warm without being too heavy. It took me a while to find the right garment for this slip stitch pattern, and in the end, I found two.

Slipping Down is a top-down circular yoke pullover featuring a slip stitch pattern. Its companion pattern is Slipping Up, a bottom-up vest The patterns are available together as the eBook Slipping Up and Down.

Slipping Down is worked top-down and in the round and is designed for a cropped body length. A set of short rows shape the neckline in stockinette before the slip stitch pattern is started. The yoke is divided into body and sleeve at the underarm, with the sleeve stitches put on hold to be worked later. The body is worked in the round from the underarm to the hem. The sleeves are taken off of hold, and worked in the round from the underarm to the cuff.

The colourwork is accomplished through a slip-stitch pattern worked in 5 colours. The slip stitch pattern provides a lot of colour and texture, so the garment’s shape needs to be simple and respond to the density of the fabric. There is a 3” gap between sizes to give better fit options.
