This timeless, trendy, and textured, super quick to make - Beanie is a must have for your Winter Collection. I designed it for a beautiful fellow Canadian maker, I connected with on Instagram. She makes just gorgeous, handmade faux fur pom poms.

I have visited the province that she lives in - where I had my first experience on a snowmobile racing out into the incredible snow drifts that sparkle at midnight to seemingly impossible, deceiving heights and undulate over the vast prairie landscape in the ever-blowing wind. I remember thinking as a teenager, “this must be what it looks like on the surface of the moon”! Oh, to be that young again! Brie and these incredible snowdrift patterns are what has inspired this gorgeous Beanie, featuring one of her fabulous faux fur pom pom creations. As it is a surprise, she is unaware of, I hope she loves it as well as the complimenting matching Brie Snowdrift Cowl and Earwarmer / Headband. These would make a fabulous set for gift giving as well a separate pieces for market makes.

Method Crochet - US Terms

Skill Level Intermediate to Advanced Beginner – knowledge of basic stitches needed as well as - working in the round, back loops only, decreases such as sc2tog, working in a back loop only, Puff st, and multiple stitches into one stitch.

Hooks 8 mm hook (metric)

Yarn You can use any Chunky/ bulky yarn/wool – Weight # 5 for this project, including scrap yarn

For my Beanie shown I used:

2 balls – Bernat Softee Chunky Tweeds (Yarnspirations) Weight #5 - in color 39001 Midnight White 2.8 oz/ 80g 84 yds / 77 m per ball – 1.5 balls used.

I had approx 50 grams of yarn left over so there is a bit of room for differing tensions.
Measurement 9.5 inches Wide X 10” length/ height from crown to brim (not including pom)

If you wish to substitute yarn/ wool, I find YarnSub.com super helpful to determine the appropriate comparable yarn/wool weight and yardage!

Directions are for Adult / Teen - Average. Measurement is 10 inches wide x 9.5 inches in height, laid flat, not including Pom.
