This pattern for tweens and teens includes comprehensive pattern instructions for knitting a classic knit slouchy-style beanie and for adding contrasting colour with duplicate stitch.

Twisted rib at bottom and top of the beanie adds an interesting texture.

Duplicate stitch adds random contrasting colour/s.

Carnival Soft 8 ply is available in Big W stores in Australia. Other DK weights will work well too. One 80 g (153 metres) skein is required.

Using circular needles throughout, there is no need for double pointed needles unless the final row is too bulky to draw the final stitches together easily. Simply add a final round to remove half of these stitches by knitting 2 together to end.

Larger heads can be accommodated with slightly larger needles and yarn weight.
