If you love slouchy hats but have had a problem finding one that gives the perfect fit, this knitting pattern will come to the rescue!

I have included the instructions for two variations on the basic hat; one style is worked in stockinette (stocking stitch) with colored stripes and the other style is worked in a single color with textured ‘stripes’ created by working alternately in stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch.

The ribbed band at the base of the hat measures 18 inches (46 cm) unstretched, but has plenty of give and will stretch up to about 28 inches (71 cm), so will easily fit a range of sizes from tweens to adults. The finished hat length from base to top is approximately 11 inches (28 cm), giving you that perfect slouchy look.

The yarn used is light worsted (double knitting/8 ply) and the pattern is worked on circular needles and double pointed needles.

My patterns are written in plain English using standard US terms, which makes them easy to follow whether you are a newbie knitter or you have many years of experience.
