This hat has an ultra-stretchy band because it uses a cotton yarn that has elastic in it, Cascade’s Fixation. I designed this in cotton for those who want a warm weather hat and also have tender skin - these yarns make for a great chemo cap. You can, of course, make the hat with wool fibers as well.

The crown looks really cool if you use a variegated yarn – see where the color changes add lots of interest to a basic knit. The solid colored band is a nice contrast that highlights one of the colors in the multi-colored crown.
